Dr. Nasrine Abushakra and Rachel Kirshenbaum founded Haute Social Karma (HSK Agency) upon recognizing a compelling need for a boutique social media company that specializes in assisting high-impact clientele and brands navigating between the corridors of the Middle East and United States.
HSK utilizes the combined talents and unique experiences of their founders to create bold and modern strategies for their clients as they maneuver amongst the two cultures. Their work projects an influential, impactful and distinctive voice on social media. They also develop customized workshops and training to immerse their patrons in cross cultural transition, societal norms, lifestyle aspects and cultural codes by utilizing methods of the new media age.
A true global citizen, Nasrine was born and raised in Boston and now frequently travels between her homes in Washington D.C. and Dubai. Internationally acclaimed as a visionary liaison between the United States and Middle East, Nasrine’s expertise lies within her revered ability to provide information, establish advocacy, and create programs that bridge these two cultures with elegance and effectiveness.
Frequently sought to teach Western organizations, leaders and individuals the art of effective communication and diplomacy in the Middle East, Nasrine also serves on numerous committees dedicated to such causes as global understanding, academia, and family business elements.
Throughout her storied career, Nasrine has collaborated with some of the world’s most distinguished leaders, including: President Clinton, Prime Minister Siniora of Lebanon, and HRH and Vice President of the UAE Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Nasrine holds a Master’s of Science in Information Systems and a Ph.D. in Technology and Education, and held a professorship at the University of Michigan. She has also served as the Director of the Fulbright Teacher Exchange Orientation Program at the U.S. Department of State. She is also the Happy Post Project Ambassador to the Middle East and represented the project at TEDxDubai in November 2011.
While in the process of authoring a book about social media, Nasrine was speaking with her childhood friend, Rachel Kirshenbaum, about Rachel’s creative ideas for innovative uses of social media, and the concept of HSK was born.
Like Nasrine, Rachel hails an international lifestyle. She was born in London, raised in Boston, and has lived and worked throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and Australia. She currently resides in Los Angeles and works within the entertainment field as a producer and director.
Rachel got her start in the television industry producing documentaries while studying at The New School in New York City. Prior to that, she graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Marketing and Communications from the Fashion Institute of Technology. Her extensive credits include some of the top-rated network shows on the air today.
Parlaying her marketing and communications background and her award-winning work in television, Rachel has quickly become a highly valued consultant in the area of social media marketing. All of her experience has made her a master at managing complex tasks, relationship building, and video marketing.
Utilizing their strengths, Nasrine and Rachel have emerged as global experts in social media marketing and brand development by enlightening their clients with respect to the cultural codes of the United States and Middle East.
